Fire Services

The demands of today’s fire service is more than just fire suppression.  Modern day fire behavior poses a greater risk with household fuels burning hotter and faster than in the past.  To address these new hazards, firefighting techniques have changed and firefighters have adapted their skills and training.  Furthermore, all departments in the fire service, including Plymouth Fire-Rescue, are called to hazards of all types ranging from but not limited to, fighting fires, high and low angle rope rescue, motor vehicle accident stabilization and extrication, hazardous material mitigation, electrical hazards, storm damage, swiftwater rescue, and ice rescue.  It is not enough in today’s fire service to be just a “firefighter.” For that reason, members of Plymouth Fire-Rescue constantly train and upgrade their skills to safely and expertly handle the hazards facing today’s firefighters.

All full-time members of Plymouth Fire-Rescue are at a minimum certified level II career firefighters with the State of New Hampshire.  Several full-time members also hold level III firefighter certifications in specialized areas of technical rescue.
