Highway Department Weekly Report

Administration:
  • We are in the process of hiring a Mechanic. This is a 40 hours per week, with more hours possible when there are storms that may require extra cleanup. A CDL is required. If you are interested or know someone who is interested in working with our department, you may find more information on the Town of Plymouth website at plymouthnh.gov or please contact the Highway Department. Applications can be found on the Town website, Town Office, or at the Highway Department.
Week of June 10, 2024, Administrative Projects:
  • 6/10 - Working with contractors regarding Russell and South Main Street, sidewalk issue on Russell Street, met with Town Manager to discuss the upcoming sweeper contract.
  • 6/11 – Finalized employee evaluations, worked on the road projects list for our town’s engineer.
  • 6/12 - CPR and AED certification with the Fire Department, worked on upcoming paving projects.
  • 6/13 - Completed the final numbers for easement documentation, met with paving venders, finished up the encumbrance for FY 2025-26
Week of June 17, 2024, Administrative Projects: (schedule subject to change due other developing events)
  • 6/17 – meeting with Mike Vignale (our town engineer) and Ambrose Bros to finalize the paving project for New Hebron Road. Working with the building inspector about an ongoing concern.
  • 6/18 – Culvert Training class given by the University of NH, T2 department, held at the Pease Library.
  • 6/19 – Primex class, Ethics and Code of Conduct
  • Inquire about line striping Highland Street, cost, and scheduling with vender. Continue to work on road construction projects.
Week of June 10rd, 2024, Crew Duties: We have a light crew, as we have 2 employees out this week.
  • 6/10 – repaired parking brake on the Holder Sidewalk tractor, catch basin cleaning with Bellemore, worked on the 2017 Kenworth truck to determine the issues with the brakes and ordered the parts
  • 6/11 – Pike Industries delivered 900 yards of 1 ½ gravel that we had moved, and stock piled for upcoming road construction projects. Catch basin cleaning with Bellemore and road sweeping.
  • 6/12 – Catch basin cleaning with Bellemore and street sweeping, another delivery of 900 yards of ¾ gravel for upcoming road construction projects.
  • 6/13 – Picked up parts for the 2017 Kenworth truck, dropped off the 2015 Ford F550 to NuCar, catch basin cleaning with Bellemore, ordered 2 pipes for catch basin repairs, put up a new street sign for Cummings Hill Road, cleaned the vehicles for the Touch a Truck event that is happening on Saturday.
Week of June 17, 2024, Crew Duties: (schedule may change due to weather or other emergent events) We will be short one employee this week.
  • Roadside ditching and fixing air brakes on the 2017 Kenworth truck
  • 6/18 – The entire department will be attending the Culvert Training class given by the University of NH, T2 department, held at the Pease Library.
Maintenance:
  • No mechanic on duty
Building:
  • Installation of newly approved air cleaning system, coming soon.
Training:
  • Primex training classes are uploaded onto the department’s computer, and our staff will begin taking the classes, individually or simultaneously, when time allows. Personnel will document the classes to track ongoing education.
Paving Projects:
  • Upcoming work on New Hebron Road
Upcoming Events:
  • The Highway Department will be participating with other departments with the ‘Touch a Truck’ event on Saturday, June 15th, 2024, from 12pm – 3pm.
